May 2nd - First Friday Gallery Walk
The streets of Bend fill with art patrons on the first Friday of every month as Downtown Bend and Old Mill District art galleries stay open late with receptions for guest artists and special presentations of new exhibits. In addition, the First Friday experience also includes musical performances and refreshments at selected galleries. 5-9pm.

May 3rd - Solaire Salmon Run

SolAire Home Builders presents the 16th annual SolAire Salmon Run, a 5K and 10K run and walk in Bend, OR. Proceeds from the event fund the Central Oregon Environmental Center and the education, protection and restoration of local rivers and streams. Contact: 541-385-6908.

May 11th - Cascade Chainbreaker Mountain Bike Race
Location: Cascade Timberlands Where: Cascade Timberlands When: 10:00AM Contact: 541-318-6188 WebCyclery will be the sole sponsor/ promoter of the 11th Annual Cascade Chainbreaker Mountain Bike Race, which will be held in Bend on Sunday, May 11, 2008. The Chainbreaker, which features cross-country racing for riders of various skill levels, typically attracts more than 300 mountain bikers from Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Northern California. It will be one of the largest mountain bike races in Oregon this year it will allow riders to experience some of Bend's best springtime riding. The course is on Cascade Timberlands property, which is west of Bend off Shevlin Park Road and will allow contestants to experience some of the rustic remains of early 1900's logging camps and tremendous Central Oregon scenery and terrain. Please see website for Admission cost. A portion of each registration fee will be donated to the Central Oregon Hospice.

Bachelor to the finish line at Les Schwab Amphitheater in the Old Mill District near downtown Bend.
May 19th - WebCyclery Movie Night @ McMenamins
Like riding downhill fast? Then join WebCyclery for *Stars & Bars* -- a new mountain bike film that follows dual slalom, 4-cross, and downhill racing in the USA. The movie covers the entire 2007 US race season, from Sea Otter to Snowmass. *Stars & Bars* focuses on the American gravity race scene, creatively capturing the intensity and determination of some of the country's best downhill racers. *Stars & Bars* has a great soundtrack, big crashes, and plenty of entertaining personalities. The film features racing and riding in San Diego, Fontana, Lake Tahoe, New Mexico, Colorado, Vermont, North Carolina, Quebec and Washington. While WebCyclery Movie Night at McMenamins is a fund raiser for Central Oregon Trail Alliance, it is mostly an excuse to get together with a theater full of like-minded cyclists to watch a great bicycle movie, eat some tater tots, and maybe win a cool door prize. May 23rd - Michale Franti & Spearhead in concert
Les Schwab Amphitheater's Wells Fargo Bend Summer Concerts kicks off a Memorial Day Concert series with a show featuring Michael Franti & Spearhead, a band that blends hip hop with a variety of other styles including funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock. May 30th & 31st - Festival of Ten Minute Plays
Where: Tower Theatre When: 7:30PM Cost: $20 adults; $15 seniors; $10 students Heritage Theatre Company presents an evening of 10 minute plays focusing on families. The plays range from the poignant to the humorous with range of playwrights and an intergenerational cast of actors.
June 1st - Heaven Can Wait Run
Where: Drake Park ~ Bend, Oregon When: 9am
5K starting and finishing in Bend's beautiful Drake Park. The course takes you south toward the historic Old Mill District and Mill Point Business Park, winds back through McKay Park and residential neighborhoods, and returns to Drake Park where festivities and the finish line await. The route is mostly flat with hills on Columbia and Shevlin-Hixon. The course will be well marked. Registration and packet pick up 7:30-8:30 am/Gather for race 8:40am /Race Starts 9am/Survivor picture at finish line 10:30am/Awards & Prizes 10:45am.
June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th - Free Summer Sundays Concerts
Where: Les Schwab Amphitheater When: Every Sunday June 1 - August 31 Cost: Free This FREE Sunday concert starts at 2:30 and ends at 4:30 PM. All musicians are world class and would typically require a ticket to see elsewhere. Bring your pup, your kids, your grandparents and your picnic to enjoy some great tunes and family time on the banks of the Deschutes River.

June 7th -8th - Balloons Over Bend
Grab your blankets and chairs and watch the majestic show as over 20 hot air balloons, soar simultaneously from the ground, coloring the skies of Bend. The balloons will launch from Jewell Elementary with a festival and Night Glow happening along the river at The Shops in the Old Mill. Also, new this year will be a street art exhibition where works of art are created on the sidewalks.
June 21st - High Desert Dash
Where: Athletic Club of Bend to Sunriver. Cost: $150 Cost per 5 person team Dash will be held Saturday, June 21st with at the Athletic Club of Bend and Finish in the Village at Sunriver Mall. Teams consist of 5 members who will walk 2 legs of approximately 3 miles each. Teams will NOT compete for best time, but instead for Team Congeniality, Team Originality, and Most Valuable Volunteer(s). Get creative with your name, your vehicle, your accessories! The High Desert Dash has been cordially invited to celebrate with Sunriver’s GET OUTSIDE event held in the Village at Sunriver Mall. We will all partake in the fabulous festivities with our fellow HDD teammates! Awards, team photos, and great music will all be waiting at the end of the fun walk-race walk dash.

June 27th - 28th - Northwest Crossing Hullabaloo
The NorthWest Crossing Hullabaloo will be an eclectic mix of activities for all ages and interests. The fun begins with a bike Criterium on Friday followed by a family move right in Compass Park. Saturday morning the fun begins again with the NorthWest Crossing Street Scramble, a scavenger-hunt style race for the finish line that sends contestants dashing around to garner points and win prizes. Add an art show featuring Central Oregon artists, live music, family activities, wine tastings and great food into the mix and you have a "hullabaloo" that no one in the family will want to miss.
